My first day at Sunnyside Environmental School rocked

The class has a garden that needs some help, and next month they will begin a Shakespeare unit. I canapos;t believe that this 5th grade class just decided to study the things I love, and now Iapos;m not only invited, but paid to go along for the ride.

As an intersting aside, when my mother started teaching she also started wearing make-up. She insited that proper appearances at her middle school demanded it. (In other words, she felt the other teachers staring/talking if she went fresh faced.) I wondered if this would be my experience also, and Iapos;m glad to report that it was not. At least not at Sunnyside. I donapos;t know if itapos;s because Iapos;m in Oregon, or because Sunnyside is a very funky, very Portland, environmentally themed school, but it was a relief. The teachers looked comfy, and even wore jeans.
